BEAVERTON -- Oregon State coach Jonathan Smith pronounced himself satisfied Saturday after the Beavers went through a spirited, two-hour practice at Mountainside High School.
"I like the effort, man," Smith said. "I like these guys."
An estimated 3,500 fans showed up for the open practice, which included several periods in which the offense and defense scrimmaged.
It was the first look most fans have had at the Smith regime, complete with pro-style offense and attacking, multiple defense.
This was OSU's seventh spring practice. The coaches are new, the schemes are different and all of that was apparent.
