A chance conversation with a teammate led to an experience of a lifetime for Oregon State coxswain Danielle Palatin.
The junior from the Los Angeles suburb of Agoura Hills, Calif., was visiting friends and family in Israel this past summer when she received an interesting phone call from Varsity 8 rower Chen Oshri, a senior from Ramat Gan, Israel, who was home practicing with the Israeli National Team.
“Chen told me the Israeli Paralympic team was looking for a coxswain,” for the Aug. 30-Sept. 6 World Rowing Championships in Aiguebelette, France, Palatin said in recounting their fortuitous conversation.
