TUCSON, Ariz. – The Oregon State softball team got a 6.1-inning quality start from right-hander Bev Miller and the eventual game-winning home run from catcher Kayleen Shafer in the fifth inning in a 2-1 victory over the No. 18/17-ranked Arizona Wildcats on Saturday from Rita Hillenbrand Memorial Stadium.
With the result, Oregon State (28-17-1, 7-13 Pac-12) evens this weekend’s series at one win apiece. First pitch for the rubber match at Arizona (33-18, 10-10 Pac-12) is set for noon PT on Sunday.
Miller’s (12-9) final line included only one run allowed off four hits and six walks with seven strikeouts.
