Oregon State kicked off their season Friday morning, suffering a 7-2 defeat at the hands of the New Mexico Lobos in Surprise, Arizona. For a team that was in a few preseason top 25 rankings, this is not how a season should start.
After a scoreless first inning, Gavin Turley got the Beavers on the board in the bottom of the second. Turley’s first hit as a Beaver went deep over the left field wall for a solo home run, giving Oregon State an early 1-0 lead.
They wouldn’t hold that lead for long.
