The Oregon women's golf team, coming off the best NCAA finish in program history, opened its 2016-17 schedule with a third-place finish Tuesday at the Red Raider Invitational in Lubbock, Texas.
Freshman Amy Matsuoka made her Ducks debut and tied for 10th, shooting an even-par 72 in the final round. Matsuoka, from Newport Beach, California, was one of six golfers in the 75-player field to shoot an even-par or better round Tuesday as she moved seven spots up the leaderboard.
Sophomore Petra Salko joined Matsuoka at 6 over. The 10th-place tie was the best finish of Salko's career; her previous best was a tie for 16th at the Gator Invitational.
