Oregon State offensive lineman Will Hopkins granted release, intends to transfer

has granted offensive lineman Will Hopkins his release and the senior intends to transfer, an athletics department spokesman confirmed.

The Austin, Texas, resident intends to graduate in the spring, which would make him immediately eligible at his next school. Ryan Bartow first reported the news.

Hopkins was a reserve lineman during spring practice and last started at left tackle in 2015 after Sean Harlow suffered a mid-season broken leg. Hopkins battled mono earlier in the year, which caused him to lose 20 pounds in less than two months.

Originally recruited as a walk-on tight end, the 6-foot-7 Hopkins converted to the offensive line as a freshman but battled injuries for most of his career.
