CORVALLIS – The screams of joy were still audible from the visiting locker room several minutes after Lamar's raucous on-court celebration at Gill Coliseum.
Despite a night in which the upstart team from Beaumont, Texas shot 28 percent from the floor, the Cardinals earned a 63-60 win at Oregon State on Wednesday that warranted a chest bump-filled team reaction worthy of an NCAA Tournament upset.
"We had to play a perfect game, for the most part, to beat this team," Lamar head coach Tic Price said.
The shooting percentage was one of many indicators that the effort was far from perfect.
