CORVALLIS - Pain was still behind Tres Tinkle's voice as he reflected on the past week's trip to the Sonoran Desert.
If there was a test to show whether the Oregon State men's basketball team could compete with the best the Pac-12 had to offer, the Beavers proved it as double-digit road underdogs against Arizona and Arizona State - the conference's only ranked teams.
But two second-half leads, including a 13-point advantage Saturday in Tempe, both disappeared and they came away empty-handed. The program still does not have a Top 25 road win since 1985.
"A lot of emotions after that game for sure," Tinkle said.
