CORVALLIS - Boos, low-pitched and forceful, rained down from every occupied section of a half-filled Gill Coliseum on New Year's Eve.
The jeers were directed at the three-man officiating crew who departed the final Oregon State home game of 2017 in controversial fashion. The Beavers' last-ditch chance at victory never got off the ground on an at-times bizarre Sunday matinee.
Oregon State lost to Utah 66-64, falling after three chances at a game-tying or -winning bucket each ricocheted off the rim on one final possession. Officials then called a jump ball with 1.4 seconds remaining, keeping the possession with the Beavers.
