In November, Oregon State officials released a statement apologizing for the university's mishandling of Brenda Tracy's alleged sexual assault 16 years earlier.
Such news releases are often the end of similar relationships. But that public apology marked the start of a partnership, one that has moved into a more official capacity.
OSU recently hired Tracy as a consultant. The registered nurse will work with university leaders on initiatives to prevent sexual violence and support its victims. Next week, Tracy will meet with officials to hammer out specifics of her new role.
She hopes to focus on involving men in the discussion of sexual violence.
