CORVALLIS - Shortly after a hard-fought 106-yard rushing performance at Nevada two weeks ago, Oregon State freshman Jermar Jefferson sent a text to running backs coach Michael Pitre.
It contained a simple request. Coach, I want to practice better.
It brought a smile to Pitre's face.
"I knew him saying that," said Pitre, "that his performances were going to continue to improve."
Jefferson must have put those words to action, because improve he has. Jefferson's stock is soaring after last Saturday's 254-yard performance at Arizona State, the No. 2 all-time rushing performance in OSU history.
