CORVALLIS – How do you grade the first scrimmage of Oregon State’s preseason camp, when it’s not exactly played like a game and there’s no scoreboard?
Maybe it’s measured by the smiles.
The offense and defense each had their moments, which could be analyzed in a variety of ways. But the current arbiter of how things are going is first-year coach Jonathan Smith, and he walked away from the two-plus hour practice feeling as though the Beavers are surging in the right direction.
“For the most part, both sides did some really good things. We’ve got a ton of cleanup, but I’m anxious to watch this tape and go through it with these guys.
