Oregon State football practice report: Jack Colletto will be the starting QB, or root for the guy who wins the job

CORVALLIS – When it comes to the popular topic of who will start at quarterback for Oregon State this fall, the conversation generally focuses on senior Jake Luton and third-year sophomore Conor Blount.

Makes sense, right? They’re the only two players with Oregon State experience at the position. But whenever coach Jonathan Smith is quizzed about the subject, he frequently interjects Jack Colletto’s name into the answer, impressed with the junior college transfer’s progress since spring practice.

Does the 6-foot-3 Colletto believe he has an honest chance to win the job?

“I think so. I don’t know when they’re going to decide and how it’s going to play out.
