CORVALLIS – If Oregon State quarterback Jake Luton was good enough to play the second half and overtime against Colorado, why wasn’t the Beavers’ senior healthy enough to start the game?
Luton sparked Oregon State’s historic comeback, rallying the Beavers from a 31-3 third-quarter deficit Saturday to beat Colorado 41-34 and end the school’s 22-game road losing streak.
Luton didn’t play until the opening series of the second half, his first action since sustaining a high ankle sprain injury against Nevada on Sept. 15. Luton threw for 310 yards and three touchdowns against the Buffaloes, enough to earn Pac-12 offensive player of the week honors.
