#36 John McCartan - Linebacker
McCartan came into OSU as one of the better recruits in the 2018 class. Because of this, the Rancho Santa Margarita native avoided a redshirt year and was thrust right into action at the linebacker position. At 6-5, 219 pounds, it was thought that McCartan would play on the offensive side of the ball at tight end, but Oregon State’s need for depth on the defense also had linebacker make sense for the freshman.
