CORVALLIS – Three weeks into Oregon State’s 2018 football season, Tuesday’s practice was much like preseason camp, with Jake Luton and Conor Blount divvying up the reps to see who should start at quarterback.
Well, almost.
“The practices aren’t as long,” Blount said.
Coach Jonathan Smith has declared this week’s practice will determine the starter for Saturday’s game at Nevada. It’s a job where both quarterbacks feel as though they have a claim. Luton won the job during preseason camp, but Blount – in part because of a concussion that sidelined Luton for most of the Ohio State game – has played well during his two halves of competition.
