CORVALLIS – Wayne Tinkle said the message from the Oregon State coaching staff was consistent during every timeout of a much-needed victory Saturday: If you want to win the game, defend, box out and get rebounds.
Although senior guard Gary Payton II nabbed the game's most significant rebound to secure a 60-56 win over Colorado, the final margin on the boards (47-29) was not pretty.
In fact, according to the Sports Reference it was the lowest defensive rebounding percentage (51.6) a Pac-12 team has recorded this season and still come away with a victory.
