CORVALLIS -- Oregon State lost its ninth consecutive game Saturday, a double-digit defeat on senior day after the Beavers' late rally was too little, too late.
The Beavers fell to Arizona State 40-24 under foggy conditions at Reser Stadium.
ASU scored touchdowns on four of its first six drives to build a 30-0 lead, and Oregon State allowed a first-quarter safety when Darell Garretson was penalized for intentional grounding as he was nearly sacked in the end zone.
The Beavers trailed 30-7 at halftime, the second consecutive week they were down by more than three touchdowns at the midway point.
