CORVALLIS — Darell Garretson's message to his Oregon State teammates did not change when the Beavers took the field for overtime.
The Beavers quarterback told his linemen, his receivers and his running backs that he believed in them.
Even after OSU had lost its previous 12 Pac-12 games. Even after the Beavers had surrendered a 17-point fourth-quarter lead. Especially after the defense had just held California to a field goal on its first overtime possession.
Three plays later, Garretson picked up a less-than-ideal snap and pumped his free fist in the air as he zipped through a hole up the middle.
