CORVALLIS – When Oregon State baseball coach Pat Casey gathered his team in its locker room early last week, he confirmed the group's worst fears.
Drew Rasmussen, the Beavers' ace No. 1 pitcher who left his previous start with arm pain, would need Tommy John surgery and miss the remainder of the season. Some worried the news was coming, yet were still blindsided the finality of the announcement.
"It hasn't really hit me yet to be completely honest," senior starter Travis Eckert said. "It's still kind of soaking in. I think that's the same for everybody, too.
