After not getting a lot of hitting in their opening day loss against Kansas State, the Beaver bats woke up today, with a bevy of power hitting driving a 14-1 over the New Mexico Lobos. Cooper Hjerpe got the win in his first start as a Beaver, and Oregon State moves up to 1-1.
Scoring started in the bottom of the third. Ryan Ober walked, and was followed by a Jake Dukart single, to get runners in scoring position. A Troy Claunch single scored Ober, and then a Joe Casey single scored Dukart. That was followed by a Kyler McMahan single to move up the runners, then an Andy Armstrong single to score two more.
