Oregon State’s batters struggled again Saturday afternoon, failing to lodge a run for the second game in a row against Oregon. The Ducks struggled as well, but managed to get a few runs past OSU starter Cooper Hjerpe in the top of the sixth, giving them a three run victory. The Beavers’ loss drops them to 10-3 on the season, and 0-2 against the Pac-12.
The first half of the game was a showdown between Hjerpe and Oregon starter Cullen Kafka. Hjerpe pitched for 5.2 innings, striking out 7 and allowing 6 hits. 4 of those hits came in the top of the sixth, setting up a double from Oregon’s short stop John Kasevich that scored 2 runs.
