Oregon State looked exactly like a potential champion in Game 1 against Minnesota. A dominant performance on the mound, and a lot of early hitting, gave the Beavers an early cushion that the Golden Gophers didn’t get close to erasing.
Luke Heimlich pitched a near complete game, only leaving the mound before the final out, keeping the bullpen fresh for the rest of the series.
Heimlich finished the day with nine strikeouts, and seven hits. He only allowed one run, a solo home run in the eighth inning.
On the batters’ side of things, the offense got started early.
