CORVALLIS – A fouled three-point shooter was the difference as Oregon State completed a remarkable comeback from 10 points down to save its NCAA Tournament, beating Utah 71-69.
After Oregon State took a 68-66 lead with 16 seconds to play on a layup by Jarmal Reid, Reid was called for a foul on Jordan Loveridge with 2.2 second remaining. Loveridge connected on all three free throws, but Brandon Taylor fouled Oregon State sophomore Stephen Thompson Jr. as he heaved a three-point attempt from just over the half-court line.
Thompson made all three with 0.1 seconds to play.
