For a few seconds during the second quarter of Monday Night Football, Mike Sturge saw his red and gold cleats saunter through the end zone on football's biggest stage.
The San Francisco 49ers were padding their lead over the Los Angeles Rams, on their way to a shutout victory, when 49ers running back Shaun Draughn threw a stiff arm and pounded in a three-yard touchdown run. Strapped to Draughn's feet as he barreled in for the touchdown were Sturge's latest creation.
Sturge, a 22-year-old Beaverton native, started customizing shoes and cleats for fun in high school.
