Entering the weekend, the Oregon State Beavers football program had three in-state commitments, but nothing outside the friendly confines of their home turf.
That changed Sunday afternoon, as Oregon State landed their first out-of-state commitment - and four-star pledge - of the 2019 recruiting cycle from 247Sports four-star defensive end Omar Speights announced his pledge via social media.
The 6-foot-1, 235-pound defensive lineman, out of Northeast High School (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), chose the Beavers over offers from Baylor, BYU, Duke, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, Syracuse, Rutgers, Tennessee and others:
Speights, the younger brother of current Oregon State defensive lineman Jeromy Reichner, committed during his official visit to Corvallis over the weekend.
