TUCSON, Ariz. - The Oregon State softball team put up some good hits but it was not enough as No. 9 Arizona closed the weekend series with the 7-5 win, Sunday afternoon.
"I'm proud of the way [the team] competed this weekend," said head coach Laura Berg. "We hit the ball well against Arizona. We just need the timely hits and then we can leave with some wins."
The game started out slow with neither team scoring any runs until the third inning.
In the first inning, junior Mariah Mazon hit a ball up the middle for the first hit of the game before she struck out the final batter of the inning to notch the first strikeout as well.
