OMAHA, Neb. – Oregon State sophomore Nick Madrigal has earned a Gold Glove Award at second base, as announced Wednesday by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and presented by Rawlings.
Madrigal is the lone underclassman among the nine members of the Division I team, with seven juniors and a senior also recognized. He is also one of two players from the Pac-12 Conference, joining Griffin Canning, a pitcher from UCLA.
Madrigal, who was named the Pac-12's Defensive Player of the Year, holds a .979 fielding percentage this season, splitting time at both second and shortstop.
