The Asian Pacific Cultural Center hosted a crowd of nearly 100 students, faculty, staff and Corvallis community members for its grand opening Wednesday afternoon.
Now located in the heart of campus, the cultural center is able to reach a larger demographic.
“I think one of the biggest things is location. Before, they used to be way out on Jackson, and the students would say they had to think before they went out there,” said Sandy Tsuneyoshi, an APCC advisory board member. “Now it’s right here in the midst of everything. We hope not only the Asian Pacific islanders students will feel like it’s a home away from home and a safe place, but also for the rest of the campus to come in and interact and learn about people who are different from them.
