The New England Patriots wanted to sign Brandin Cooks to a contract extension. Cooks wanted to remain with the Patriots.
The two sides couldn't come to an agreement and the Patriots traded the former Oregon State star wide receiver to the Los Angeles Rams Tuesday afternoon.
Cooks, 24, is coming off a very productive in his first - and only - season with the Patriots in 2017. He caught 65 passes (114 targets) for 1,082 yards and seven touchdowns while averaging a career-high 16.6 yards a catch in 2017.
