TUSCON, Ariz. – Despite two-run home run in the top of the sixth, Oregon State softball's comeback fell short in its season opener against New Mexico in day one of the Candrea Classic on Friday afternoon.
New Mexico broke through first in the second inning, scratching a pair of runs that started with a one-out single down the left field line. The Lobos followed that up with a two-out single to third but senior pitcher was able to shut down any further scoring to end the inning.
In the top of the fourth, Oregon State attempted to get on the board as delivered a leadoff single up the middle.
