PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – The Oregon State men’s golf team is tied for eighth place after the first round of the Saint Mary’s Invitational. The Beavers opened the three-day, 54-hole tournament with a 10-over 294 at the par-71, 6,868-yard Poppy Hills Golf Course.
Host Saint Mary’s was the only team to finish opening round in red figures with a 5-under 279.
“The course played difficult today with the wind, which was opposite of what we saw in the practice round,” Oregon State head coach Jon Reehoorn said. “The guys really did a good job of competing and maintaining their poise throughout the day.
