CORVALLIS -- Despite a loss, Manase Hungalu has been recognized for his 20-tackle performance at California.
The Oregon State senior inside linebacker on Monday won Pac-12 defensive player of the week, marking the first time the team captain took home the honor and the first time an OSU player won a weekly conference award this season.
Hungalu had 13 solo tackles in the game. His 20 total in a single game were the most of his career and tied for the fourth-most in Oregon State history. The OSU single-game record is 22, set by Steve Brown at Stanford in 1972 and matched by Andre Harris at Colorado in 1988.
