CORVALLIS -- NCAA Tournament matchups between a No. 2 seed and No. 15 seed often leave those teams scrambling for information about each other.
But not Oregon State and Long Beach State. They've crossed paths, both recently and in the more distant past.
The first game Scott Rueck ever coached during his masterful OSU rebuild was against Long Beach State. He remembers about 1,500 people moved from Reser Stadium to Gill Coliseum following a Nov. 13, 2010 home football game against Washington State, and described the 71-39 victory as "kind of this out-of-body experience." Long Beach State coach Jody Wynn, meanwhile, recalls the on-court result as "tough" for her team, but also remembers how Rueck warmly greeted her staff upon arriving in Corvallis.
