DURHAM, N.C. – Oregon State juniors Trevor Larnach and Nick Madrigal have been named semifinalists for the prestigious Golden Spikes Award, USA Baseball announced on Monday.
The Golden Spikes Award is given annually to the nation's top amateur player. Previous winners include Brendan McKay (2017), Kris Bryant (2013), Bryce Harper (2010), Buster Posey (2008) and David Price (2007).
Oregon State and Florida are the only teams with two players chosen to the semifinalists' list, which includes 25 student-athletes overall.
Larnach leads the Pac-12 Conference and is 13th nationally with 64 runs batted in, which is tied with Dylan Davis (2014) for the third-most in a single-season at Oregon State.
