Kevin Abel Named A Freshman All-American

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State right-handed pitcher Kevin Abel has been named a Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball, the publication announced on Wednesday.

With the selection, the Beavers have now had at least one Freshman All-American in four consecutive seasons, and in 12 of the last 13.

Abel, who hails from San Diego, Calif., is coming off eight shutout innings in a win over LSU on Sunday, which clinched the Corvallis Regional for Oregon State. The righty is 4-1 on the year, sporting a 3.58 earned run average in 60 1/3 innings. He has appeared in 19 games, starting five, recording 85 strikeouts while opponents are batting just .
