The Oregon State Beavers coaching staff has worked hard to make headway in the home state during the 2016 recruiting cycle, adding commitments from Oregon City wide receiver Trevon Bradford and Gresham safety Emony Robinson.
But that effort didn't stop Oregon State from losing a pledge Monday night, as Rivals three-star tight end John Bates, out of Lebanon High School, announced that he had flipped his commitment from the Beavers to Boise State.

For the 6-foot-6, 210-pound athlete, who won two state titles in track and field last spring to lead Lebanon to a 5A championship, it turned out Boise State simply felt like a better opportunity.
