CORVALLIS -- Jaswha James needs just three letters to encapsulate last year: "Bad." The word is the ideal blanket description, he reasoned, because it characterizes his personal performance, the Oregon State defense's performance and the overall team's performance.
When asked earlier this week about that 5-7 clunker of a season, James said "bad" six times. So the 6-foot-2, 264-pound defensive end is embracing change this spring. He is learning from a new coaching staff, digesting their 3-4 defense and trying to lead by example.
In advance of Saturday's Spring Game, James caught up with The Oregonian about a range of topics.
