SAN FRANCISCO – Oregon State redshirt junior Jake Thompson has been named the Pac-12 Conference's Pitcher of the Week, it was announced on Monday.
The right-hander from Florence, Ore., tossed his first career complete game in the Beavers' 5-0 win over Washington State on Saturday. The economics major limited the Cougars to two hits and two walks while striking out five.
Washington State was unable to get a runner in scoring position against Thompson.
The honor is the second of Thompson's season and seventh earned by an Oregon State pitcher, tying the 2011 UCLA Bruins for the most in a year since the then-Pac-10 unified in 1999.
