After the first round of Olympic Gymnastics last weekend, future Oregon State gymnast Jade Carey qualified for finals on two apparatuses, floor exercises and vault. Carey just missed out on performing in the all around final; each nation is only allowed two athletes in the all around so Carey, despite finishing in ninth place, was on the outside of the cut.
Things changed late Tuesday night, when Simone Biles decided to withdraw from competition to focus on health concerns. Biles finished first overall in the all around, so her departure from the event will dramatically shake things up.
