With one more Christmas Eve game on the docket, Boise State players and coaches attended a dinner banquet at the Sheraton Waikiki ahead of the 2013 Hawaii Bowl.
It had been two days since starting senior quarterback Joe Southwick was dismissed from the team and sent home for allegedly urinating off a hotel balcony. As the team settled in for the event, Southwick made an appearance on a local television station back in Boise in an attempt to clear his name.
A number of Boise State players pulled out their phones at the dinner and watched the feed of the broadcast nearly 3,000 miles away as their former starter said he would provide the results of a lie detector test.
