CORVALLIS — Gary Andersen originally thought Oregon State's 2016 recruiting class would hold fewer than a dozen players, due to the Beavers' small group of 2015 seniors.
But there the coach sat on Signing Day, breaking down "basically a full boat" of 24 future Beavers.
It was quite the dramatic change over a few months during the first full recruiting cycle for Andersen's staff in Corvallis, one made possible thanks to evaluation of the current team and recruiting targets, diligent communication among the staff and natural attrition that comes during a coaching change.
"The staff did a great job of managing those situations," Andersen said Wednesday.
