Heimlich Named Pitcher Of The Year Finalist

LUBBOCK, Texas – Oregon State junior Luke Heimlich is one of five finalists for the College Baseball Hall of Fame's Pitcher of the Year award, it was announced on Wednesday.

Heimlich, a left-handed pitcher from Puyallup, Wash., owns the nation's lowest earned run average at 0.81. He is 10-1 on the season and has 120 strikeouts in 111 innings while holding opponents to a .177 average. His 120 strikeouts rank fourth in Oregon State single-season history and are 11 shy of No. 1 Jonah Nickerson's school record of 131 in 2006.

A speech communication major, he was one of 16 Oregon State players honored by the Pac-12 Conference on its All-Academic squad, earning honorable mention.
