Seattle, Wash. – Oregon State’s Kara Hallock (pictured) placed ninth in the pentathlon with 3,617 points and Melissa Ausman set a school record in the weight throw on Friday to lead the Beavers in the first day of the University of Washington Invitational, staged at the Dempsey Center.
Hallock placed seventh in the long jump (17-11.75, 694); eighth in the high jump (5-4.50, 783); ninth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.91, 929); 14th in the 800 (2:28.38, 713) and 19th in the shot (31-3, 498). She placed fifth among college athletes and fell just short of her school record of 3,691 points, set at last year’s Mountain Pacific Sports Federation championships.
