I thought former Oregon athletic director Pat Kilkenny struck the right tone in his radio interview yesterday with Oregonian/OregonLive.com columnist John Canzano.
Kilkenny, a former insurance mogul who also is a big UO donor, came across as calm, reasonable and balanced in his comments.
He was most forceful while denying a tweet from ESPN sports business reporter Darren Rovell that Nike co-founder Phil Knight was ready to spend $10 million on a replacement for current coach Mark Helfrich.
I haven't put much credence in the tweet from the start.
It would be a substantial outlay for Knight, coming on top of the cost to buy out the contracts of Helfrich and his staff.
