Two years ago, Hannah Akamine was catching in the Women’s College World Series as a member of the University of Tennessee. In 2013, Akamine and the Lady Volunteers went 52-12, including 16-6 in the SEC. Then in the postseason, they won their Super Regional, qualified for the World Series and advanced all the way to the finals. The Lady Vols eventually lost to Oklahoma in the Championship, but they finished the year ranked as the No. 2 team in the nation. That year, Akamine played in 60 games, started 53 at catcher and hit .285 with three home runs.
