CORVALLIS, Ore. – Former Oregon State baseball players Jacoby Ellsbury, Michael Conforto, Darwin Barney, Josh Osich and Daniel Robertson are opening the 2016 professional season at the Major League Baseball level.
The 2016 season officially began on Sunday when three games were held, which included Conforto’s New York Mets in a 4-3 loss to Kansas City. He went 2-for-2 with a double and two walks as the starting designated hitter.
Conforto made his MLB debut last season and proceeded to hit .270 with 14 doubles, nine home runs and 26 runs batted in over 56 games.
