Ex-Oregon State LB Obum Gwacham could take big strides for New Orleans Saints in 2016

Obum Gwacham produced flashes of his potential during his rookie season with the New Orleans Saints in 2015.

The 6-foot-5 linebacker out of Oregon State will likely receive more opportunities to make plays as the Saints plan to insert him into a hybrid linebacker/edge rusher during the 2016 season. Gwacham has a much better understanding of the Saints "open end" position after getting reps during offseason workouts, OTAs and mini-camps.

"You want your open end to be a faster guy, somebody who can get to the ball," Gwacham told theadvocate.com.

Gwacham should be prepared for more time on the field after fellow linebacker Hau'oli Kikaha will likely miss the 2016 season after suffering a torn ACL in his left knee during a training session last week.
