Another Oregon State pitcher just got the call. In the 14th round, with the 427th overall pick, the St. Louis Cardinals drafted DJ Carpenter.
2022 was Carpenter’s first year with the Beavers, and he found a role as a middle reliever. He appeared in 22 games over the season, building up a 2-3 record and a 7.77 ERA. In 2018, out of Martin Luther King Jr. High School in Moreno, CA, he was drafted by the Phillies in the 15th round, but elected to attend Oregon State. As a Junior he still has some college eligibility, but now may be the time to make the jump to the pros.
