Pappas runs for Oregon Track Club Elite and for Greece, and took a stab at bagging the Olympic qualifying standard in the 5,000 meters of 15 minutes, 24 seconds at last night's Oregon Relays.
Despite having the Hayward Field crowd pulling for her, Pappas didn't quite get there. She won the race in 15:33.78, which she said afterward was good enough.
The Olympic standard, Pappas said, "would have been the dream scenario.
